Thank You Tia for keeping all of us informed. An excellent variety of music information. The site is very well put together, congratulations! Sinoel TX, USA
About bloody time! Steve
Hi Tia Justin here off many lists that we share but predominately Boo. What a great site you have created. I always enjoy reading your reviews not only the ones where I didn't make it but more especially those I did attend. Inveriably I forget set lists, instances etc. and reading your accounts brings it all back to life. I can't believe how many artists we over lap on. Just been reading the Brian Kennedy review from 99....the one featuring Juliet Turner. I see that you have signed up for the JT Yahoo group which my other half Samantha runs. Will email you off site with a request. Cheers and keep it all going Justin
Great site, particularly the illustrious concert reviews! I felt as if I was there myself! — Clarisa, Austin, Texas, US
Who knew you were such a Rob Lowe fan? :-) -The Boy
Excellent site Tia! Great navigation and full of in-depth, extremely useful info. Cheers then... Maggie, Manchester.
Brilliant stuff, I've just been living the Dar concert longingly. I've just added a link from the Freeworld memorial concert page. Alan
What a brilliant site - Well Done!! I came here from your posting at the Paul Carrack yahoo group thingie. I am a big fan of Paul's and your review of his 50th birthday bash made me so jealous that I was unable to go - it sounds like an absolutely fabulous time was haa by all. Thanks, too, for the links to the other sites - I'm sure many a happy hour will be spent checking them out.
What a brilliant site - Well Done!! I am a big Paul Carrack fan and came here via the address you left on the Carrack Yahoo group thingie. I was very impressed with your review of his 50th birthday bash - it sounds like everybody had an absolutely fabulous time and I am so jealous that I was not there to share the experience!! Thanks, too, for the links to other websites - I'm sure I will spend many happy hours browsing through them. Once again - Well Done to you!
Very good review on Ron Sexsmith. It is so great to see how popular Ron is in other countries, but very disappointing that people here in Canada are missing so much because he gets very little radio play. Instead we get Celine ad nauseum. It would be so refreshing to hear Ron's meaningful songs on the radio. Thank you.
Wow. I just read your delicious review of Ron Sexsmith at The Borderline. I'm from New Brunswick, Canada and got to see Ron for the first time back in April. Your review brought your experience alive and rekindled lovely memories of mine, when he was at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It seemed a full house that night also, I'd say, hmmm, 1000? I'm not sure of the capacity. But the spell he cast with his very first song, For A Moment, endured throughout the entire evening - you could hear a pin drop we were so enraptured. I've recently been hooked on his new release, Rarities...it hasn't left my car player since I took it out of its wrapping. I didn't even mind getting stuck in traffic on the way to work...got in three more songs, afterall. Thanks for your terrific reviews! I see you have a few others for Ron - I'll be back to read those when I have the proper time to enjoy... CB New Brunswick Canada
hiya, it is so much fun reading the reviews, (re-living certain adventures, envying others...) btw, check out your home page in Netscape, some of the code isn't clean... (Front Page makes some clunky code...) I'm at work on the peecee, will check it at home on the mac later. Happy Friday! be true, Lesly
Great site - keep up the good work Keep Rockin' visit my Dave Edmunds website: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Balcony/2674/index.html
Only read the Loudon W 111 review so far (great write up!) Will be investigating the site further and have already placed it in "Favourites". Thanks, Lawson
Hey Tia, I'm a Loudon Wainwright fan who attended his shows in Manchester and London on the 12th and 13th October. Just gotta say that I loved your report of the London gig. Mine will be posted soon on the Loudon yahoo group! Just a note though, the song you referred to as erither 'Still Life' or 'The Final Frontier' is actually 'To Be On TV'. I believe it was originally called 'Still Life' when he first played it about a year ago though. He played it in his John Peel session in August. 'The Final Frontier' is a different number about giving up on love, which he played in a Peel session last year. Just me being a pedant, but thanks for the review!! Cheers
Thank you for your review of the Finn,Runga,Debbyn concert. I found myself getting excited just reading it! I love the album & Tim has been my great love since I can't remember when. I've seen him a few times over the past X years & he is amazing & very captivating.I followed your link from frenzmail. Keep up the good work - I envy you!
As with all of your efforts, fascinating and entertaining. Thanks.
Hi Tia Finally got round to signing in. You've put together a great site here with some fine artists. Have you come across Keane yet? They were on one of Jool's shows this year (the one with Jane's Addiction on) and are played a lot on BBC 6 Music. Truly excellent - even without guitars. Best wishes and let's hope you'll be listing a Roddy gig in 2004!
Tia, Thoroughly enjoyed reading your reviews, especially the one on Celtic Flame as I was there too. It was, as you say, a great night, and so it's nice to see those few happy moments that remained in my memory, reunited with others that had strayed. It's also great to see them expressed so well, both in writing and visually, and to know that they have finally found a safe place here on your web site. Well done! Very interesting site
Thanks for your excellent (and very accurate) review of the Loudon Wainwright III gig from October 2003. I've printed it out as a permanent reminder of a great gig. I took my wife along, and unbeknownst to either party, someone from her workplace was there too (although she didn't see him, or know he was an LWIII fan) but the next day at work he said "Hey, I saw someone who looked just like you in Shepherd's Bush last night"! PS For a good night out I recommend "Club Senseless" Downstairs at the King's Head, Crouch End, with Ronnie and the Rex ("Ronnie" used to be in the Fabulous Poodles, not a million miles from Squeeze, if you like them)
Looking for the title of a Loudon Wainwright song I heard last Saturday night... Here's some of the words: "You left for camp, you left for school, left for the coast when that was cool, then you left women, one a wife, to save your skin you wrecked a life, and when did(?) kids, not just one, life that you wreck you're on the run What you think, how you feel...though who can say if it's all real....... ...sad stories can have happy ends, perhaps you now can just be friends..... your power's gone, it was protest(?).... it's not just that they sighed with her you are so close but your hardly here..... What you think, how you feel..and what's worse is you know it's real"
Hi, I just made a short visit to your site, nice page, keep on Greetings Andrea
Great review of Sarah Harmer - One point though.... Sarah was confused as to where Dave Allen was currently living, her grasp of UK geography being - well, as good as my grasp of Canadian geography! He is in fact in Banbury, North Oxfordshire, where he plays in a new duo currently building a good reputation for original music. You can find out more about him and his duo at www.weealex.com
hi tia. nice site. lots of good info xo william www.superfallingstars.com

Greta review. Thamks for all your efforts.
hi. thanks for your very kind review of my show at bush hall, with sarah harmer. just thought i'd let you know i'm launching the new record at the troubadour in london on sept 9. more info is at loosemusic.com and will be at tobyburke.com soon. thanks again, continued luck with the site and hope to see you in sept. cheers toby
Just stumbled upon your site whilst looking for songwriters circle mp3's and read your review of Roddy Frame, which bought me right back to memories seeing him on the Surf tour in Nottingham. Fantastically well written imo! I have been working my way through the concert reviews since. Great stuff, makes for very enjoyable reading. Andrew
Hello. Where did you get your goestbook script?
Re the LC review; I saw the abbreviated American version of the tour at Joe's Pub in NYC -- and your astute comments enriched my memory++++. Making a guess here that you have finally bought dont get wierd and bad vibes. I chatted with LC, before a Del Amitri gig, re just buying the bad vibes import - interestestly he said (correctly) that I would like his next album (Love Story) better, for I had raved about his solo debut. Anyway vibes is still good. Thanks, from perhaps the biggest LC fan in Connecticut.
Great site - really enjoyed your in-depth review of the McGarrigles/Wainwrights concert - brought it all back to me. How do you remember all of that - do you tape it or make copious notes? Judging by your taste in music, have a listen to my son-in-law's (plug plug) band Grand Drive - I think you'll like them. New album just out on Gravity is called "The Lights in this town are to many to count". Keep up the good work.
Great to find someone else who enjoys Brian Kennedy's music. I enjoyed reading the Expo review - I was also at that, and was stood near to Mr Dunbar. I remember hearing him singing along. It was the first time I'd heard or seen Juliet Turner, and I thought her voice worked so well with Brian's - I was so glad to discover the duet they did that day, was later a Bside on one of Brian's singles. Keep up the good work!
wow i can't belive there is another Tia dunbar i am as well!! but i am 11
hey, just wanted to say this site is truly amazing, especially the news section, helps me keep up with loads of amazing acts, thankyou so much!
Thanks for the useful site. Keep up the good work. God bless you and keep you. -John-
I've just started working for a new jazz live music venue in Shepherds Bush. Just wanted to send you details of the venue to see if you might link us under the venue section: www.bluejaylounge.co.uk. We've got Leo Green performing here on Friday & we like him too! cathy@NOSPAMbluejaylounge.co.uk
Hi Tia, I know you from the Boo listings (I'm also a mate of Rob Peters) Just read your fantastic Simon & Garfunkel review. I saw them at Manchester Arena and it was indeed an insprational evening. Anyway...i've a 2 Cd bootleg of the tour (taken from a USA gig) I did a copy for Rob but if you want a copy just let me know and I will sne dyou one -<e-mail address removed>-It's the least i can do for such a fab & detailed review. Kind Regards Phil.
That is the finest review of any gig that I've ever read. I was at the show and reading your review brought back so many detailed memories. Thank you!
I flew in from Spain to be at the Hyde Park concert. Reading your excellent, detailed review has brought back all the memories of a truly wonderful night. Many thanks
I just read your review of S&G at Hyde Park and I was really impressed: you recreated it for me as if I were there! I went to see them in St. Paul, Minnesota, and had the same feelings and reactions that you did. I had to keep mentally pinching myself that I was really there, and S&G, THE S&G, were actually in front of me, singing together. I'm a big fan of Art's solo stuff because I love his incomparable voice (I'm not fond of Paul's solo voice, though he's a brilliant composer), but somehow when the two of them sing together, it's beyond words to describe, though we can't help trying. I just wish they had recorded more together before separating. Thanks for your great review--and it was not a word too long!
Hi Just a quick note to say how much I enjoy the (detailed!) reviews on your website. Particularly as there are several I attended myself! It's great to have someone willing and able to log all the memories which can cloud over time. Cheers!
re: your review of S&G at Hyde Park: first, please don't edit this! What a thorough review, from knowledge of S&G, band members, concert memories (from your memories of hearing songs to the reality-based ambulance-service required for some concert attendees) You provided many "quotables" ..."the magicians disappeared, but the magic did not dissolve for days"...this sentiment is reminiscent of 2 S&G shows I attended (I STILL feel magic in the memories) thank you for sharing a great S&G Hyde Park concert review!
I first became interested in Juliet Turner & her interesting voice with a strong accent which gave special character to her songs heard on Morning Radio as I drive to work. I began searching for information via the Internet and stumbled on this site. Within 30 minutes I now have useful details of her music, background, and Titles so I can now order the CD without the record shop staff looking at me as if I'm and idiot. Your review was excellent Thanks
great! keep it up.
Hi! What a brilliant review!! I was there at the concert too, and your description brings it all back to me. As Art said at the 1981 Central Park concert, 'What a night!' I love the way you not only describe what S&G sang, but you also describe the park and the audience and the whole setting. Fantastic!! Just a small factual correction, if I may. The end of Leaves That Are Green isn't a tribute to Hello Goodbye, as it was written before Paul McCartney's song. So it's much more likely that McCartney was influenced by Simon! And thanks for all the information about the band too, including the bit about the trombidoo, which is how I came to be here. Although your review is almost as long as the concert, I think it's a perfect reminder of a fantastic evening. So thanks for taking all the time and effort to write it and 'preserve our memories'! I've mentioned it in a posting on the www.paul-simon.info site, which I reckon is the best Paul Simon fan site on the web. Cheers! John. john.whapshott@NOSPAMericsson.com
Brilliant site! I definitely must spend more time here! :) You seem to be a Bap-fan - You might like the fansite I recently built for him: www.bapsfriends.com. If you've a moment, I have a question I would like to ask you ... would you please email me at lontana2NOSPAM@comcast.net? Thank you for your kindnesses, and thank you for your lovely site!
Great review - and she was only tellin' the truth. Thanks. Anne
Thank you. The review of Lloyd Cole at the South Bank is not only a brilliant review, it also sums up my experience of the LC genius over the last two decades in both a comprehensive and susinct manner.
I've been a McGarrigle fan for decades, and was stoked to learn they'd be performing in Australia with their children. But how on earth, I wondered, would the disparate musical styles cohere on stage? Well, you nailed it with your review of their concert in the UK last May. Last night's Sydney show was a scaled-down version, complete with family banter, leg spasms from Martha, and sly Queer Culture references. Unlike the UK show, however, every seat in the theatre was filled almost from go to whoa. Word obviously got out to the Canadian expat community. There were a fair few of us from the Great White North in attendance. Also, in what must have been a nod to Sydney's very well established gay scene, we got to hear "Gay Messiah" AND "Cigarettes and Chocolate." It was impossible to make out the lyrics to either, but that didn't worry the fans in the slightest. I'm sure I'd have enjoyed the concert in any case, but having read your review, and knowing what sort of treats were in store, made it all the better. So thank you for that. One teeny tiny quibble, and I only say this because you clearly value accuracy in spelling: it's Tom LEHRER, not Leher. Sorry to nitpick. Best wishes, and keep up the excellent work. It's nice to know, when the TV screen is choked with pop princesses, crotch-grabbing gangstas and Australian Idols (not), that someone out there is staying in touch with what REAL musicians are doing.
hi found your site while looking for Planxty-reviews (because i was there)- read your novel about Luka Bloom. All nice and well but that's a bit over the top ey???!!!
Nice design.
18/2/05 Tia, have just read the Simon and Garfunkel review of their Hyde Park concert. Which my wife and I were at. Great artical, brought back the great night spot on. YES, it would be great if they do a DVD of the Hyde Park concert. So far I have had only No, from various web sites. So the New York will have to do for now. Thanks again. Jacee.
Thank you - Reading this brought it all flooding back. It was a magical evening, one that I would never have imagined that I would be lucky enough to experience. Our daughter only managed to get two tickets and took me, so my husband and our other daughter unfortunately missed a wonderful event - but who knows - they did say they would see us all again in another twenty years!!!!!!
Paul Carrack May 4 2001 I think I have this on cdr from a webcast. It's 2 hours long. http://thegrape.org
Thanks for the useful site. Keep up the good work. God bless you and keep you. -John
Enjoyed this Paul Brady review. Great stuff! It was just as I remember it but seen through the lens of a much more erudite writer. And, for the record, Paul was glancing at you whilst singing Smile, but not as if you were some demented psychotic with special needs. Your "smile" (which is lovely) and this review (also dazzling) both warrant his attention. H
I found your site after keying in Juliette Turner - and really enjoyed the detail of your review I thoght I'd check out some other and am delighted at your excellent taste - but that's just cause it's the same as mine !! I will keep an eye on where and whom you write about next
Looking forward to reading your Jane Siberry review. A sadly under exposed talent.
I've just finished reading your review of Simon and Garfunkel at Hyde park... a fittingly enthusiastic and detailed account of what was indeed an incredible experience. I was so delighted to chance upon it using Google, as I was having difficulty remembering the running order of the songs that night, and hoped that some dedicated fan or other had made a simple list... what I found was a great deal more than I expected! Thank you for taking the time to write down all your memories and helping me to relive an evening that will never leave me. They were awesome, weren't they?
[Apologies to those of you who posted comments in March that were deleted when my webhost (1-2-3) took a sledgehammer approach to fixing a teeny problem on 21 March 2005, which wiped out my guestbook, amongst other things . Most entries fortunately have been restored, but those posted between 5 March and 26 March were lost, which is a bit heartbreaking as I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing your encouraging words and interesting views. Anyway, all should be working fine now for visitors who want to add their comments, and I thank you all for your support.]
Hi just came to your site as my wife is on the Roddy Frame email list, so I saw your posting about Mr Collins (let's hope his condition keeps on improving). The news about upcoming music on TV and Radio is brilliant. I'll be back! www.tomorysworld.blogspot.com
Please don't edit any of the RAH review. It is perfect...raw, immediate, cathartic. I felt like I was there, halfway 'round the world. Thank you. Jean Portland, Oregon, USA
Finn Bros concert - What a review! many thanks for taking the time for such a detailed write-up. Please leave it up for a while for I certainly will want to read it again and again.
I just read your review of the Finn Bros concert at RAH and the huge emotional outpouring as the Finns and Nick remembered their friend Paulo. I saw the beginning of this tour in November last year in Australia (I live in Perth) and I really felt like I was at this concert too. I wish I was. The review was terrific - don't change a thing.
Thank you Tia for that beautiful longgggg post on the Finn Brothers show for Paul. I needed it. Cheers Kelly Timtam
I too was at the Finn Brothers concert on Monday 28 March and was was deeply moved by their performance and the atmosphere. Your review brought back those feelings and I again had to wipe away a tear or two. I don't think you need to revisit it and edit it at all. I'll be keeping a copy along with my ticket and tour brochure as it sums up the night brilliantly. Coincidentally, on the day before I woke up to the terrible news delivered in PGs email, I randomly selected some music to listen (and play along) to and picked the CH fan club CD "One night stand" (Wembley Arena June '92), which features lots of Neil and Paul's inimitable banter and I remembered when I saw CH at the same venue on a subsequent tour, but just after Paul had quit. I was thinking what a shame it was that on the only time I got to see my favourite band I had just missed out on seeing that remarkable chemistry first hand...
Having been a Split Enz / Crowded House / Finn Brothers fan for more years than I care to remember, it was very comforting to read your words and to know that the boys are doing ok considering their devastating loss.

I was at Monday night's gig and it was not until Neil mentioned about being f**ked up before Better Be Home Soon , that I realised what had happened. I feel like I was at a different concert to everyone else because of that. I have no memory of BBHS because of being in shock. Thank you for your incredibly detailed review which reminded me of all the things that had happened that I couldn't recall.

I've just read through your detailed recollections of The Finn Brothers at the RAH on the 28th. A fantastic piece - brought back some wonderful memories of an unforgettable and very moving night. Sorry to hear about your father..I lost my mum just before Christmas and I've found much of the Finns' music..espec. the current album has helped my emotional recovery. Corny but true. I wish you all the best and hope that you recall many happy memories of your dad and draw some comfort from that. Thanks again - All the best John P.S. I'm glad someone else noticed the giant shadow creature Tim cast when he was backlit! Spooky!

Your Finn Brothers reviews are excellent. I have enjoyed the past ones, particularly Regents Park and felt as if I was there. I too was at the 28 March show and the 2 subsequent ones. They were cathartic, emotional and magical all in one. Thanks for taking the time to write these things in such a fantastic and thoughtful way.

Thanks for a perfect review of the Finn gig on Monday - I was one of those who couldn't help the tears in the stalls, having been a Finn fan (Finnatic?) for almost 15 years, and with fond remembrance of all the fun during the CH era.

Wow! That was absolutely amazing... Your writing makes me feel like I was there. Thank you sooo much! The concert I'm referring to is the [Finn Brothers' first] RAH gig. Helen in Burbank
We have been trying to find the song "Carry me down real slow" and can't find it. Is it on a compilation? We agree with you it is an amazing song and was played recently at a friends funeral and we did have to carry him down real slow as it was a natural funeral and we carried him from the top of a hill. It would remind us of John and would be great if you could tell us where to find it. Mark Flanagan reminds us of JJ Cale [As you didn't leave your contact details, I'll just mention here that Carry Me Down is the first track on Flanagan's 2001 CD The Chosen Few (Swashbuckle Records SBRCD001). Whilst I have not used them myself, I see that MovinMusic is one of the sites that sells the CD.--Teacy]
Thanks for the useful site. Keep up the good work. God bless you and keep you. -John-
Hi, I was just passing the time on the net and discovered your site. It`s really good and I`ll be coming back to it. Thanks for your kind comments about me on the Van and Eddi reviews. Happy days. Best wishes, Johnny Scott
Great review!
Just read your review - loved it, and related to it. I'm about to turn 55 (in eight days time) and have been a fan since I saw him at the Cambridge Folk Festival in 1972. I've seen him many times since and have many of the CDs, especially the last six or so. So much of what he writes are personally relevant. The father/ son stuff really gets to me - a retired army officer father, and some difficult times with my elder son. LW111 has often brought me to tears and Five Years Old still can after all these years. I found your site because I went to a concert on Friday night of a young Australian musician who slightly reminded me of a young Loudon and I told him so while purchasing a CD (Fred Smith/ Independence Park). He didn't seem to know much about our Loudon and I promised to send him an email pointing him in the right direction. In intend to nominate some of my favourite and important selections and will forward your review for a feel of what an LW111 concert is like.
Hi, my name is Lisa, from Canada, I happened upon your site & review of the RAH Finn Brothers concert in March, & I just wanted to say a deeply heartfelt thank you for your extremely detailed retelling of what happened on the night you attended. It's been years since I first saw Crowded House in concert (91)& I haven't had the opportunity to see the Finns in concert, but God willing, some time in the future, I absolutely plan on it. I was devistated when I heard of Paul's passing, the world just isn't the same without him in it. God bless Tim & Neil Finn & Nick Seymour. Your site is cool too, I shall return again sometime to keep reading. Thank you
Thank you so much for the Finn Bros 30/4 review. I followed your post from the Frenz email list. And I didnt mind that it was long, I soaked up every moment! So nice to read so much about Neil, as I wonder how he might have been coping that week - your details about what he said, or how he smiled etc, were really appreciated. It sounded like a great night, amidst much sadness. Well done and thanx!
Hello, I've a question. I'm looking for the songtext off Simon&Garfunkel 'The only living boy in new york'. Greetings, Ferdaah
I have only just discovered your review of the Paul Brady concert at the
Festival hall last year, having visited the PG website and seen a moan about no
anglo irish observations please from a contributor. I then looked up nothing but
the same old story and happened on this. Like you I cannot believe some people's
denseness.
Its a fantastic song and just as relevant today as when he wrote it, last time
the irish, next time another national or ethnic group.
Haven't explored the rest of your site yet but really enjoyed your review and
wondered if you were at the barbican last night?
Great site - particularly the News section. I'm forever missing stuff on
radio & TV because I forget to check the schedules. I was extremely fortunate to
spot that Robert Plant was on Radio 2 the other week (I've only just found your
site) and am sure that I've missed loads of stuff in the past that I'd have
loved.
How about a weekly email to subscribers to keep us up to date? I know it would
be difficult to keep up with all the satellite channels, but the mainstream
stuff (BBC, ITV, Sky etc) would be useful - BBC regional stuff, too (I caught
the Tsunami concert earlier this year on BBC Wales TV & radio via satellite)
Keep up the good work
Thank You for your thorough description of such a significant performance. Having heard that they played the three shows following Paul's death, I wished so much that I could have been there.
The pain and shock following March 26 has been immense, and anyone who did attend was blessed indeed. Your vivid descriptions provided me with mental imagery that I cherish.
Hi Tia, just discovered your website. I'm a fan of Loudon and Finn music too, so I'm looking forward to checking out some of the other artists you recommend.
I'm always looking for new music on the net peer to peer and did a search of songs about belfast and found the song Belfast Central by Juliet Turner and fell in love with her voice. I went looking for a photo and found your reviews. Now another reason to go back to Ireland.
I really enjoyed your review of the Royal Albert Hall Finn Brothers concerts. I attended the Tuesday night so it helped to complete the picture. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and heartfelt review. I was in tears all over again.
I do not like thee Dr Fell is also the title of a play by Irish Playwright Bernard Farrell and is published and could easily have been seen in a bookshop in dublin
Agree with review of DECLAN O ROURKE SONG SARAH. TRULY A GIFT. ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN EXCEPT BETTER.
[re: Kirsty MacColl Tribute concert] It was a birthday present form a friend who understood my passion for Kirsty and it was a night i will never forget. In my child hood was a huge fan of tracey ullman and so discovered Kirsty. It was one of the best nights of my life. forever missed
Great review of Lloyd Cole Jan 2004, I wish I had been there 2 days after my
30th Birthday. However I did get to the reunion show in London, dream come
true.
Thanks.
I heard him for the first time on tv tonight and found his voice amazing
watch this space I say.......he's got a fan in me for sure.
Re Loudon Wainwright at Queen Elizabeth Hall, London 26 April 2005.
Dear TC. You must have been sitting very close to me - from the way you
describe the photographers.
Furthermore, you said "Then I found—by having to miss several trains into work
the next day--that my season ticket, renewed for the year only the day before,
had chosen to jump ship somewhere at the South Bank Centre...."
Amazingly, as I left the hall I found a recently acquired season ticket near the
Nelson Mandela statue just outside the side entrance and on the way back to
Waterloo Station. I was away the next few days, so didn't get to hand it in till
I got back. I can only think it must have been yours! (If you have
longish black hair as in the photo it probably was!) I wasn't envying you the
hassle.
Take care.
Rob
WOW! Don't change a word of your great review of S&G in Hyde Park (2004) ! I
read every line and felt your excitement and enthusiasm as if I were right there
with you! Thanks for sharing that wonderful evening with "the masses!"
Regarding The Finn Brothers - Royal Albert Hall on 30 March 2005....
THANK YOU so much for that review. I am in Canada, so I wasn't there obviously,
but I am incredibly grateful for any & all of the reports of those 3 concerts in
London, back at the end of March. I give much credit to Neil & Tim Finn that
they were able to carry on under such distressing circumstances.
Regards,
Lisa
I was there and have enjoyed remembering the evening years later. I had just
had my daughter and only such an important event could have dragged me away from
her at a few weeks old. I travelled down in the morning, armed with ticket and a
breast pump. (To ease the pressure which would inevitably build through the day)
She starts school in September. I send Paul a birthday card every year since, to
say an extra thank you for such an amazing night.

TO BARRY WELCH, THE NAME OF THAT SONG IS "MY LIFE IS A MESS BUT NOW I HAVE YOUR NEW ADDRESS (I'M A STALKER)". Hope this helps!
I love the Review on Van Morrison .

I WENT TO THE NEWCASTLE (AUSTRALIA) CONCERT LAST NIGHT AND SINCE I AM STILL VERY HYPED UP FROM IT, DECIDED TO DO SOME NET SURFING ON THE FINN BROS. I FOUND YOUR SITE AND IT MADE ME RELIVE THE CONCERT I EXPERIENCED LAST NIGHT. EXCELLENT REVIEW
Hello, I liked you site very much. But maybe you should change the color of
the background on the site?
It would be great to read the review on paul brady 25 of may 05 thanks
Lovely review of the Lloyd Cole show. I regret not be able to see this tour, and your review made me feel both poorer for having missed and richer for knowing what I'd missed. Well done.
Reading this was so moving I felt the sting in my eyes of my missing of Kirsty so very very much. In 1994 I was fortunate enough to see Kirsty play at one of our beach bars here in California. I remember my hair was long and red too. She came walking down the stairs to applause and whistles and she looked sort of unsure of herself. This show was at a bar called, "The Belly Up" in Solana Beach. Very small, only held about 50-60 people. But it was such a brilliant show. Fantastic. I remember she was dressed in dark red crushed velvety material- I can't recall if she was wearing jeans or if this was her outfit. But she seemed really shy, and once emboldened by our applause and whistles and frantic clapping, she loosened up a bit. I remember being enthralled, Kirsty was my favorite singer of all time- next to Morrissey- but that's another kettle of fish. In any case, Kirsty was so good, her voice magnificent, and I will always remember how I'd found out how her death. I was in the office, online and playing around, and someone sent me an email telling me what happened and that he was still in shock. I went through the rest of my day in a sort of a haze, thinking, oh no, they can't right about THIS. But it WAS true, and I had myself a good long cry that evening.
Came across this site when doing a search for David Mead lyrics and came out quite impressed. Keep up the great work! So nice to see someone reviewing music and shows as a true lover of music.
I loved this site. Mostley because I am such a fan of David Mead, Althought I have to say, In the song World of A King, I have never thought he said they f*cked out a baby, to me, forked was always the world I heard, even when I was a young kid, and still now. I did not like that comment of the profanity in that song.
listened to declan o rourke on rte i think the programme was voices from a
room. it was fantastic. would love to find lyrics to his songs on the net.
such simple, easy listening music.
Hi !
I've loved your review and i hope you've liked "on the moon"... now we're all
waiting for Peter Cincotti's third album... early next year...
A very enjoyable read. I almost felt like
I was there. A fitting tribute to the great talent of Paul
Carrack.
Thank You Les Lewis leslielewisNOSPAM@inflex.fsnet.co.uk
A great artist, pleasure listening to his songs, takes me back to my younger days, but, adding the today mood to his music. Hope to hear more.
Just found you through Boo Hewerdine - I'm part of MVine, the new label that
Boo's just signed to. MVine is co-owned by Calum MacColl - so I feel right
at home with your list of recommendations! Really like the site, and can't help
but agree with your fab taste in music. Can we correspond, as not only
have we just signed Boo, but we've got another three artists up and coming for
next year that I think will be right up your street.
If you have a min to check out our virtual venue on our website, www.mvine.com,
I'd love to know what you think and get your input. Will also happily send
you review copies of anything that we've got coming out. Just let me
know!. All the best, Kerry
I'm not sure whether your "news" page is talking about things that are going
to happen or that have happened. e.g. the item: -
BBC4 will devote the night of Friday, 22 April, to Georgie Fame, broadcasting a
concert at the charming LSO St Luke's at 9pm on BBC4 Session: Georgie Fame,
followed at 10pm with The Price of Fame, a 1969 edition of his musical showcase
with Alan Price. Be careful, though, as the latter programme features
Pan's People.
Is this saying that in April 2006 these programmes will be shown again (then how
do you know the BBC's schedule so far in advance?!), or that they were shown in
April 2005. What I'm really after is a recording of the LSO St Lukes
concert, although if it is going to be shown again, maybe I can wait long...
[Neil, I don't think even the Beeb knows what it will
be showing on 22 April 2006 as yet, but one great thing about BBC4 is that they
tend to repeat their various concerts--and sometimes show them at night on
BBC2--and if I come across this one in the listings again in future, I'll try to
mention it on the site.--Teacy]
I Love your reviews! Only someone that appreciates and is passionate about
music can write from the heart like that.
I'm a part-time journalist and review gigs - I have Luka Bloom tonight and
Juliet Turner next week. Two acts that you obviously adore.
I'll let you know how I get on!
Peace and love

Thanks for writing such an extended review of the Lloyd Cole concert January
2004. It really makes me craving for the new album which he is working on at the
moment. Hope you can make it to his concerts in November 2005 and let us all
enjoy your review again.
It's good to know that I am not the only person in the world who still loves his
music...;-))
Cheers,
Kim
Man, incredible review about Lloyd Cole´s gig.
Fantastic how you caught all the details and wonderful described your
impressions bringing altogether the information about the songs.
Made me feel how i was there. Thanks a lot for that.
Thank you for reviving my adoration for Kirsty . My eyes filled at the dream
of the thought that I could have been there . Because of your wonderful review I
feel now as though a part of me always will be . I have copied and pasted this
review , your passion for music and your sensitive writing has given me a window
to an event that must have been pain and pleasure in equal measure . I have
stumbled upon your site by accident while looking for Roddy Frame information
and was intrigued to find he played "Innocence" , one of my favourite Kirsty
recordings . Thank you again for a spectacular and emotional review .
well done - I saw him in Manchester this week and he was wonderful.
A wonderful review...I saw Luka in February here in Melbourne, Australia and
the concert had the same feel
Wow! It's taken me seven months to get around to reading the review of
Loudon's South Bank concert. As I read it, it all came back to me. I
reckon that was one of his best ever concerts.
Even though I saw you taking notes, I still can't believe the amount of detail
you captured.
Allow me to say thank you for selling me the extra ticket and also how
devastated I am to see that there's no mention of me in the review.
is there a dvd out of this particular concert? coz i was there and now want 2 buy dvd thank u reply to millwallc617400NOSPAM@aol.com
Just saw Paul Carrack concert at Birmingham Symphony hall with my wife ( 05/12/05 )only comments are TRULY BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE!!!
I've just read your review of Nick Lowe playing at Borders in 2001. Great review. I saw him play a half empty Stables in Milton Keynes that year, and a two thirds empty Warwick University this year. What a shame the great British record buying public doesn't realise what a star is in our midst.
We saw the Finn brothers at the Empire in liverpool last October [how good were they] they were fantastic. the people at the event were not so good and did not react and gel with either the performance or the charm of one liners from neil and tim this was a shame as me and the wife couldn't sit still. We couldn't make it to the Albert Hall date but we are really looking forward to the finns coming back to the region although i doubt they would play at the empire again due to a very strange audience. Johnny Mars adlib tribute to the late great John Peel seemed to get some going but this was only after some disturbing heckles from a section in the crowd they [finns and co] were great c p audience shame.
excellent reviews. thanks for all the memories you awaken
Finn Brothers in London "If you enjoyed the content?" I read and reread
this beautifully written art on paper and each time I can actually visualize and
feel the moment. Your incredible gift to write has touched me deeply.
I have to tell you, I am a finn fan beyond words. I have had the love of
music in my life from day one. Seen a zillion concerts and continue to do
so. I listen to a wide variety and seek new talent. BUT, there is no other
musicians who have reached me so completely in so many ways than those Finn boyz.
From all avenues of their talents of the Enz, Crowded House, each of their solo
endeavers are all so much apart of me. So your description of that night I read
with such enjoyment you took me there and I thank you. Here in the states the
finns are unheard of on the waves and I am grateful for the web sites I visit to
gather info on them including of course Peter Greens fan club info, he does a
great job keeping me updated. You keep up the great work and I thank you again
with an ear to ear grin, I'll throw in a hug too. Sue
I think the first lyric in World Of a King is 'forked out a baby' which is a
biting comment in keeping with Meads sense of humour.
I hope this restores it to being listenable without 'wincing.'.....Oops, I
reread your review and saw you pointed this out already. Where I live 'forked
out' means spent a lot of money on, which is exactly what having a baby is like,
isnt it?
I found your comments regarding the concert in Hyde Park very informative and enjoyable. I have been a fan of S @ G since 67, one of the great duo's of all time. In my opinion the two greatest albums made were Bridge and Sgt Pepper, cant really separate them. Thank you for giving me a greater insight into S @ G Well done
My Christmas gift this year from my son, was an overnight trip to California's "Canyon Club" to hear Peter and his group. We had the first table, center stage, and it was an evening to remember. Peter is fascinating, compelling and spectacular. The group is perfect in every way. I will always be thrilled that I had the chance to experience Cincotti in his youth, he will be a star for the next fifty years.
Mann / Penn concert
I never read so a detailed concert review. Great! Wish I'd been there.
It was some comfort here in the days after the anniversary of Paul Hester's
passing to re-read your RAH Finn Brothers review of March 28, 2005. I
dunno anymore if I wish I had been there or not. Dark days those
were given the joy Crowded House gave so many of us who saw them live over the
years.
Thanks for keeping these missives available.
great review----I saw Declan O'Rourke at the Sharon Shannon show in Limerick, Ireland last week. He played only two songs, but he was great!! I bought his cd the next day. I had never heard of him before as I was visiting from Central Illinois, USA. I will be telling my friends about him.
Great site and loved your link to Trouser Press etc. Considering links
on my site willbirch.com - do you want to reciprocate? Will.
